Jil Sander - Fall/Winter 2006
The on-again off-again presence of Jil Sander at Milan fashion week has left many in the fashion world wondering just what will happen next. She was bought out by Prada in 1999 and kicked out. In 2003, she returned to the label she founded, but then left again the next year. Now Raf Simons has taken over with his first collection for fall winter 2006.

Jil Sander - Spring/Summer 2005
Jil Sander is playing with a softer more feminine physique overlaid with artistic nuances since she
returned to her fashion house three seasons ago. Her light airy designs with a nod to Americana bring a welcome freshness to fashion, at a time when most designers are immersed in fussy proper clothes. But despite her newfound energy and new direction, six weeks after this catwalk presentation she quit her fashion house one more time. With Jil’s exit the soul and future of the house are in question.

When Jil Sander returned to the industry after her sabbatical much was made of how different her collection looked from her earlier designs. Milan Vukmirovic injected some of himself and his love of rock 'n roll in his fall/winter 2003 collection for Jil Sander. This collection was his best received to date, and ironically it was his last for the house
of Jil Sander. Shortly after the collection debuted, it was announced that Jil Sander was returning to design her signature label and Milan was out.

Milan Vukmirovic is followed by a constant cloud of controversy and speculation. Having taken over the designing for the Jil Sander label three seasons ago, his work is incessantly compared to Jil’s. To add to the furor, this season Milan decided to express his point of view in the label.

Milan Vukmirovic does not have the easiest job in the fashion industry, especially since taking over the design helm at Jil Sander two seasons ago. The brand always had an incredible following of women and Milan is working hard to keep those women satisfied.
